In 2017 the World Surf League removed a natural wonder of a wave, Lower Trestles in San Clemente, from the World Championship Tour.
The Freshwater Pro, held in the desert at Kelly Slater’s artificial wave pool in Lemoore—100 miles from the California coast—replaced it.
Together we can bring surfing back to the ocean, where it belongs.

What about letting contests take place at the wave pools…Why restrict access to all the surfers that want to surf because of a contest. Never liked showing up at a surf spot that was even average and not being able to surf it because of a contest. Let them pay to surf.
I think it’s fun to watch the world’s best surfers rip a wave that you surf regularly ???? It’s cool to see where they sit in the lineup, what approach they take, observe the different lines that they draw in certain sections, etc.
Surfing the Ranch is cool (although, I can’t afford it at $30,000 – $50,000 per day) just not for a contest that counts toward the World Title ???????? ???????????
